Abstract A flow microcalorimeter in the mixing mode has been employed to verify the possible application of calorimetric techniques in studying enzymatic reactions. In order to illustrate the optimum operative conditions, with special regard to chemical and instrumental factors affecting the reaction heat quantity, the urea enzymatic decomposition, which is a well studied reaction, was chosen.
