In Italian preschools, children with special educational needs are constantly increasing. If appropriate educational activities aren't proposed, children will not acquire the prerequisites that are essential to face successfully the teaching of reading and writing in elementary school. Currently, scientific research confirmed that musical play promotes the overall development of individuals and, when offered at preschool age, promotes the development of reading and writing pre-requisites. This article describes the results related to the development of musical aptitude of pupils with SEN after quasi-experimental research, conducted in the Italian country. The research involved 761 children overall, divided into experimental and control group, to verify the learning outcomes of an educational design specifically focused on the use of musical play integrated with metaphonological activities.

Abstract
In Italian preschools, children with special educational needs are constantly increasing. If appropriate educational activities aren't proposed, children will not acquire the prerequisites that are essential to face successfully the teaching of reading and writing in elementary school. Currently, scientific research confirmed that musical play promotes the overall development of individuals and, when offered at preschool age, promotes the development of reading and writing pre-requisites. This article describes the results related to the development of musical aptitude of pupils with SEN after quasi-experimental research, conducted in the Italian country. The research involved 761 children overall, divided into experimental and control group, to verify the learning outcomes of an educational design specifically focused on the use of musical play integrated with metaphonological activities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
