Abstract

Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), is a short chain fatty acid neurotransmitter that can be considered both an endogenous metabolite and a precursor of the neurotransmitter-gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).[1–3] In the 1990s, GHB became very famous among body-builders, who used it as a ‘steroid-accessory’ drug, in order to increase growth hormone (GH) release.
