This research examined the role of Regulatory Mode (locomotion and assessment) on information seeking strategies, the main strategy used by newcomers in order to enhance organizational socialization. The results, obtained on a sample of 422 students of the Warrant Officer Academy of the Italian Army, showed that locomotion and assessment orientations are complementary, by using different sources of information regardless of its content: locomotion was positively associated with the use of "risky" sources of information (e.g. trial and errors) that provide greater risk to negative feedback; assessment is instead positively associated with the use of information sources "not risky" (e.g. observation) that require less social exposures risks.

Abstract
This research examined the role of Regulatory Mode (locomotion and assessment) on information seeking strategies, the main strategy used by newcomers in order to enhance organizational socialization. The results, obtained on a sample of 422 students of the Warrant Officer Academy of the Italian Army, showed that locomotion and assessment orientations are complementary, by using different sources of information regardless of its content: locomotion was positively associated with the use of "risky" sources of information (e.g. trial and errors) that provide greater risk to negative feedback; assessment is instead positively associated with the use of information sources "not risky" (e.g. observation) that require less social exposures risks.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
