The article offers an updated overview of the economy of the Neo-Sumerian period (XXI BC), in the light of the thousand of administrative documents in cuneiform writing dated to this period. Different aspects of the economy (land tenure, work classes, taxes, loans and interest, market) as well as specific productive sectors (agriculture, livestock, fishing, trade market) are discussed.
