The suitability of parameters recently proposed for the analysis of shielding performance have been numerically and experimentally investigated. They account for the overall reduction of the EM field inside or outside the enclosure. Being the ratio of integral quantities, they are only moderately affected by misleading spatial resonances and allow the direct comparison of the shielding performances of different enclosures. A small electric-field probe has been developed and fabricated for the measurement of the electric shielding effectiveness.
