The performance of shields to be used in reducing the magnetic field due to power cables is investigated. The magnetic field is computed either by solving exactly the Helmholtz field equation and by using the approximate solution based on the transmission line approach. The influence of various geometrical and electrical parameters of the cable shield on the shielding effectiveness is assessed. The computed results are compared with measured data. The proposed prediction procedure is a powerful tool for the design of cables with low emission of magnetic field.

Abstract
The performance of shields to be used in reducing the magnetic field due to power cables is investigated. The magnetic field is computed either by solving exactly the Helmholtz field equation and by using the approximate solution based on the transmission line approach. The influence of various geometrical and electrical parameters of the cable shield on the shielding effectiveness is assessed. The computed results are compared with measured data. The proposed prediction procedure is a powerful tool for the design of cables with low emission of magnetic field.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
