Numerical aspects related to the solution of the equations governing transients in Multiconductor Transmission Lines (MTL) directly in the time domain (TD) are presented. Inclusion of losses associated with finite conductivity of conductors is discussed and, in particular, subtleties of the Prony's method for the approximation of transient impedances accounting for losses in the time domain are investigated. The importance of various factors on the overall accuracy obtained in transient analysis is outlined and assumptions often made in the past are critically reviewed.

Abstract
Numerical aspects related to the solution of the equations governing transients in Multiconductor Transmission Lines (MTL) directly in the time domain (TD) are presented. Inclusion of losses associated with finite conductivity of conductors is discussed and, in particular, subtleties of the Prony's method for the approximation of transient impedances accounting for losses in the time domain are investigated. The importance of various factors on the overall accuracy obtained in transient analysis is outlined and assumptions often made in the past are critically reviewed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
