The structure and composition of sodium taurocholate (NaTC), a very important and carefully studied trihydroxy bile salt in humans, were studied. X-ray and emf measurements enabled to solve some crystal structures. It was found that the structural units of these salts have an approximate shape of an elliptic cylinder and a roughly elliptic cross section were formed by dimers.
