Autorganización y regeneración urbana: repensando las políticas desde la práctica. Tres experiencias de la periferia romana

Today's city is scattered with many social laboratories that tend to be an instrument of aggregation, planning and land transformation, with a difficult intent: helping the socio-territorial regeneration of places that have now become degraded (Cellamare, 2019). Starting from a reflection on some fundamental questions related to the theme of an integrated bottom-up urban regeneration, the paper advances some interpretative and methodological proposal, elaborating what emerged from the research-action activity carried out by the LabSU-Laboratory of Urban Studies 'Territori dell'abitare' (DICEA, Sapienza University of Rome), in three districts on the outskirts of Rome: Centocelle, Quarticciolo and Tor Bella Monaca. In particular, two fundamental issues are highlighted: on the one hand, the need to imagine, design and build new spaces for coexistence, new ways of living and new relations of production starting from the experiences and paths in place in the territories; on the other hand, the importance and complexity of the role of the university, in encouraging these processes aimed at building collaboration between the various local actors, both horizontally and vertically.
