The study concerns the first section of the Aurelian Walls, which extends from the right bank of the Tiber to Porta Settimiana, with particular attention to the section separating the courtyard of the Congregation of the Sisters of San Giuseppe di Rivalba from the gardens of Villa Farnesina, which also houses one of the defensive towers. The research focused particularly on Honorius's walkway and the wall facing (corresponding to the inner front of the city). A series of restorations and renovations were identified, likely spanning a broad time span, demonstrating that maintenance continued even after the walls lost their defensive function. The results of the direct investigation and surveys have revealed significant data for understanding the construction system and identifying these transformations. The research also confirmed some of the hypotheses formulated by historians; among these the original separation of the lower chamber of the tower from the upper one, today communicating through an opening in the breach (which also allowed for the analysis of the wall section), made in modern times in the pavilion vault set on the first level.
