Abstract
Thirty years ago, degree programs in Communication Sciences marked a highly successful innovation in the landscape of university education in Italy, breaking through the established boundaries of knowledge and areas of study. In this context, these programs can be seen as a “Portal for Critical Knowledge of the Contemporary World”: a space where one can explore and apply the “safe distance” from the sheer dominance of techniques, avoiding the trap of chasing ephemeral slogans that latch onto the latest apparent shortcut to interpret and resolve the complexity of communication processes. The interdisciplinary nature of knowledge continues to be a challenge for Communication Sciences degree programs, requiring a deeper understanding of the strong hybridization of disciplines and communication techniques. The author concludes by reflecting on the role that Italian scholars of “Sociology of Cultural and Communication Processes” can play in shaping the evolution of communication studies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
