Thinking about the role of the new genera- tions in today society also means understand- ing how their reality is defined through the intertwining of two distinct scenarios, one marked by risk and uncertainty – typical of postmodern society (Beck, 1986) – and the other pervaded by a creeping sense of disori- entation, which increasingly characterizes the transition of young people to adulthood. In such a context, even the thresholds of passage that traditionally marked the path of young people towards adulthood appear blurred, just as the time needed to complete this journey seems indefinite.
