Sartre biografo di Tintoretto. Lo studio dell’esistenza del pittore attraverso l’interpretazione della sua arte

With this contribution we want to carefully analyze some of the texts that Jean-Paul Sartre has dedicated to the Venetian painter Tintoretto, among them in particular the less known and studied, in order to highlight its content and originality, thus drawing them out of the undeserved oblivion they have been the object of to this day. The texts analyzed will be the following: Saint Marc et son double and Saint Georges et le dragon. In these essays Sartre analyzes the personality of Tintoretto from the works of the latter. For the French philosopher, in fact, it is posible to find in them the very individuality of the painter. We will carefully follow the sartrian interpretation of Tintoretto’s works, showing how through his studies Sartre tries to capture in the painter’s paintings the obsessions and the inner dramas of the latter, to find the man behind the canvas. In the final analysis, this contribution will highlight the importance of the texts analysed, which give us the skillful interpretation of what was probably the most talented and at the same time dark soul that Venice was born.

Con questo contributo vogliamo analizzare attentamente alcuni dei testi che Jean-Paul Sartre ha dedicato al pittore veneziano Tintoretto, tra quelli meno noti e studiati, al fine di metterne in luce il contenuto e l'originalità, facendoli uscire dall'immeritato oblio in cui versano fino a oggi. I testi analizzati saranno i seguenti: Saint Marc et son double e Saint Georges et le dragon. In questi saggi Sartre analizza la personalità di Tintoretto a partire dalle opere di quest'ultimo. Per il filosofo francese, infatti, è possibile ritrovare in esse l'individualità stessa del pittore. Seguiremo con attenzione l'interpretazione sartriana delle opere di Tintoretto, mostreremo come Sarte, attraverso i suoi studi, cerchi di catturare nei dipinti del pittore le ossessioni e i drammi interiori di quest'ultimo, per trovare l'uomo dietro la tela. In ultima analisi, questo contributo metterà in risalto l'importanza dei testi analizzati, che ci danno la possibilità di conoscere quello che è stato probabilmente il pittore più di talento e allo stesso tempo l’anima più oscura che Venezia abbia partorito.
