The injection of propellants is a critical operation in liquid rocket engine and its impact on the combustion chamber design and thermal characterization is of great interest. In particular, while the lateral part of the combustion chambers as well as the nozzle sections have been largely investigated the insights and data available for the characterization of the flow patterns and heat flux on the injector plate region are significantly less. In this framework, high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics simulations of such region are expected to have a substantial role in he absence of reliable experimental datasets. The development of a numerical framework and reference configuration for such investigation is discussed in this contribution, presenting some preliminary advancements.
