This article aims to analyse a relatively neglected, yet important aspect of Giorgio Manganelli’s manifold production, that is his critical writings on Italian literature. After some reflections on what it means to be a literary critic and reviewer according to Manganelli, the author of the article attempts to demonstrate that Manganelli’s critical writings are a privileged field to observe his longing for literature as expression of variety and complexity, as a creation of an autonomous world open to every experience. Special attention is given to examine how Manganelli deals with the concepts of ‘oscurità’ (obscurity), ‘chiarezza’ (clarity) and ‘limpidezza’ (transparency).

Abstract
This article aims to analyse a relatively neglected, yet important aspect of Giorgio Manganelli’s manifold production, that is his critical writings on Italian literature. After some reflections on what it means to be a literary critic and reviewer according to Manganelli, the author of the article attempts to demonstrate that Manganelli’s critical writings are a privileged field to observe his longing for literature as expression of variety and complexity, as a creation of an autonomous world open to every experience. Special attention is given to examine how Manganelli deals with the concepts of ‘oscurità’ (obscurity), ‘chiarezza’ (clarity) and ‘limpidezza’ (transparency).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
