The present study aims to offer a possible starting point to initiate a reliable literature review in the economic and managerial fields on the topic of “metaverse”. Using text mining, the titles, abstracts and keywords of 188 articles were analyzed adopting text minining. The co-occurrence analysis of the lexical units in the examined texts reveal th importance of avatars and virtual, mixed, and extended realities in fostering the construction of the metaverse, in addition to artificial intelligence and the centrality of human beings in constructing the new world.
