The essay deals with the analysis of youth reality starting from the new role played by sustainable consumption within the mechanisms for constructing the identity of young people, linking the development of responsible consumption practices with the spread of new ways of social participation. In particular, starting from the analysis of postmodernity impact on the dynamics of self-definition, the paper highlights how the process of individualization that has passed through contemporary society has helped to spread forms of individualized collective action, especially among the younger generations, thus renewing the repertoire of social and participatory action.
