Flora vascolare della Riserva MaB “Collemeluccio-Montedimezzo” (Isernia - Italia meridionale)

its altitude ranges between 790 and 1284 m a.s.l. and its climate can be classified as "cold-humid", wholly lacking summer drought. Vegetation mainly consists of high-coverage mixed Fagus sylvatica-, Abies alba- and Quercus cerris- mesophilous woods rarely interrupted with clearings. The spontaneous and naturalized vascular flora here listed is very rich in species, including 348 taxa (233 in Collemeluccio and 259 in Montedimezzo), one of which (Lathraea squamaria L.) first recorded for Molise, belonging to 228 genera and 70 families. Ten species (Abies alba Mill., Cucubalus baccz/er L., Anemone ranunculoides L., Euphorbia corallioides L., Smyrnium per/oliatum L., Lamium galeobdolon (L.) L. subsp. montanum (Pers.) Hayek, Lilium martagon L., Lilium bulbiferum L. subsp. croceum (Chaix) Baker, Ophrys lutea Cav., Acer cappadocicum Gled. subsp. lobelii (Ten.) Murray) are in the Red List of Italian Plants at Lower Risk. The biological and chorological spectra clearly show how pronounced the H percentage, together with the Eurasiatic component, are, confirming the phytoclimatic features of this area. It is also assessed the role of the Reserve in preserving biological diversity by using some indexes: they highlight a high forestal value and, most of all, a very low percentage of adventitious and exotic species, due to the slight anthropic impact affecting the whole northern Molise. Finally, since the Reserve lacks an internal zonation, a core area is suggested.; The vascular flora of "Collemeluccio-Montedimezzo" MaB Reserve is examined on new data collected between 1998 and 2000, and on bibliographical ones. The Reserve is placed in northern Molise, South Italy, next to Abruzzo, and consists of two areas. The total extension of the Reserve, which stands in the Temperate Region, is about 600 ha
