Villa Doria ad Albano Laziale. Le memorie del «Bosco» ottocentesco a confronto con lo stato attuale

Villa Doria in Albano Laziale is an important example of historic garden in the area of the Castelli Romani. This place is a layered schedule, in which the transformations of the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries overlapped the ruins of the roman villa conventionally attributed to Pompeo Magno. Villa Doria has also a memorial value, because of the battle of the Divisione Piacenza of the 9th September 1943. The succession of phases has left marks on the territory, to be re-read in the layout of the avenues, the wall elements, the vegetation and the furnishings. Currently the park is used as a municipal villa, however becoming the subject of frequent vandalism. A critical reading of the park is proposed, with reference to a nineteenth-century plan, in which the garden is described as "Bosco", offering a vision of how much it has actually been preserved compared to the ancient layout.
