Ready-to-assemble furniture is a type of furniture that needs to be assembled by customers, who do not necessarily have manual skills. Today, this field is mainly composed of products that require tools and accessories for assembly. Often, the necessary tools are absent from the kit for sale, or the ones provided are difficult to use. In this context, the research presents a design experimentation on joints that exploit the elasticity of wood to avoid the use of accessories and tools.

Abstract

Ready-to-assemble furniture is a type of furniture that needs to be assembled by customers, who do not necessarily have manual skills. Today, this field is mainly composed of products that require tools and accessories for assembly. Often, the necessary tools are absent from the kit for sale, or the ones provided are difficult to use. In this context, the research presents a design experimentation on joints that exploit the elasticity of wood to avoid the use of accessories and tools.
