We designed phase change decafluoropentane microdroplets stabilized by a shell of dimethyl dioctadecylammonium bromide (cationic surfactant, as efficient drug delivery vector against tumors. Our DODAB shelled MDs promote the release of anthracyclines (eg Dox orubicin) against highly aggressive, invasive and poorly differentiated triple negative breast cancer cells. The attractiveness of DODAB shell lies in its high affinity to cell plasma membranes gold nanoparticles and DNA, paving the way for improved treatments.
