Ileocolonoscopy, cross-sectional imaging modalities, and video capsule endoscopy are the tools currently used to investigate such involvement.AREAS COVERED: Herein we report the case of a 47-year-old man with a history of ileocolic Crohn's disease and persistent, unexplained iron deficiency anemia.EXPERT COMMENTARY: Capsule endoscopy, by accurately identifying small intestinal mucosal lesions, can improve outcomes.
