Vitamin D and vitamin D receptor (VDR) can enhance or suppress the transcription of key genes involved in the regulation of cell growth. However, in the literature it has been reported only few data on the rate of VDR expression in melanoma (MM) according to Breslow’s thickness (BT). Our aim was to detect the expression of VDR in MM. We observed an increased VDR expression according to BT. Our results stress the fact that vitamin D and VDR may play a pivotal role in the melanocytic proliferation.

Abstract
