The 'Aurora of the rosy-fingered dawn', or 'with the rose-red fingers', 'with her saffron-colored robe' is a celebrated literary image which has transmitted down through the ages the idea of a reassuring divinity in the personification of the morning light, sunny and benevolent, the giver of light and well-being. A recently discovered curse tablet discovered in Rome near the Via Ostiense (see n. 4) is an opportune find and reveals to us a surprising function of Aurora’s mythic figure. Unexpectedly we find her in the company of a group of infernal beings in the workings of a curse on a women. Moreover, she is named with an otherwise unknown family relation, Orchi soror, Orcini soror. You examine again, in this article, the mythical divinity Aurora with the literary and archaeological comparison.
