the aim of this research was to highlight the trade-offs involved in the growth strategies in three widespread Cistus species grown outdoor in a common garden from seeds of different provenances obtained from BG-SAR. In particular, seeds of C. monspeliensis from S-W Spain and from Sardinia (CMSp and CMS, respectively), C. salvifolius from S-W Spain and from Sardinia (CSSp and CSS, respectively) and C. creticus subsp. eriocephalus from Sardinia and from the Italian mainland (CES and CEF, respectively) (n = 100 seeds per species and provenance) were analyzed. Germination protocol and seedling growth conditions were carried out.
