Bronzetti votivi ellenistici dal centro Italia. Un approccio artigianale ed economico

In the central Apennine region, small votive bronzes representing especially Hercules have definitely played a major role in votive deposits since at least the Archaic Period. In this paper, the systematic study of more than 250 examples from new (Corfinium and Alba Fucens) and old excavations (Castelvecchio Subequo, Caramanico and Carsoli) is carried out, applying both an artisanal and an economic perspective. The analysis is conducted on several levels. Firstly, a more traditional approach is taken in which the context is considered. Then a typological analysis and a study of the chronology of these objects support the attempt to conduct a metrological evaluation, based on the systematic analysis of their dimensions and weights. Finally the attempt to re-establish the economic value of these objects is carried out.
