Tra ricerca scientifica e costruzione dell'identità: il progetto della Società per la storia degli ebrei in Italia (1911-1939)

The essay reconstructs the process of creating the Society for the History of Jews in Italy by Umberto Cassuto. His intent was twofold. First, he wanted to foster knowledge of history as a remedy for the loss of identity shaped by emancipation and integration. Second, he wanted to promote research on the subject, involving non -Jewish scholars, to reconstruct the centuries-old history of Italian Judaism, which was an integral part of the history of Italy itself.

Il saggio ricostruisce il tentativo di Umberto Cassuto, noto storico e biblista, di organizzare una Società per la storia degli ebrei in Italia, nell'ambito della Società asiatica italiana di Firenze, coinvolgendo studiosi ebrei e non ebrei, per ricostruire la storia degli ebrei in Italia, considerata parte integrante della storia italiana.
