This article examines the results of a research on training evaluation practices adopted by some Italian companies in the fashion and textile industry. Author stresses out the factors explaining the scanty recurrence of documented processes and formal systems of training evaluation among Italian companies; examines literature on training evaluation in order to assess their adaptability to practices of informal self-evaluation and quests whether ethnography in organizations can sustain the improvement of training evaluation. Finally, results show the road to adopt participatory methodologies in order to strengthen informal self-evaluation and make it accountable.
