The present paper examines the discovery made by the joint Syro-German archaeological expedition at Tell 'Ağağa, ancient Šadikanni, in Syria. In particular, the study calls into question the nature and interpretation of the building that has been interpreted as a palace. Based on the archaeological evidence of the sculptures (at least five figures of lamassu and a stele), it might be argued that the building of Tell 'Ağağa could also have another function, possibly a temple.

Abstract
The present paper examines the discovery made by the joint Syro-German archaeological expedition at Tell 'Ağağa, ancient Šadikanni, in Syria. In particular, the study calls into question the nature and interpretation of the building that has been interpreted as a palace. Based on the archaeological evidence of the sculptures (at least five figures of lamassu and a stele), it might be argued that the building of Tell 'Ağağa could also have another function, possibly a temple.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
