Il romanzo "Fine di una banda" del 1925 rappresenta un riuscito tentativo dello scrittore di volgersi a un materiale moderno. Ambientato nei bassifondi di Pietrogrado, il romanzo racconta la storia di una sgangherata banda di rapinatori, utilizzando il gergo della malavita.
