The concept of accountability within the framework of the Improware Project. Indicative proposals for an efficient management of water resources in the Mediterranean countries

The paper is aimed to carry out an indicative proposal for an efficient management of water resources in the Mediterranean countries. The proposal is based on the experiences gained within the Improware Project. Starting from a national and international literature review, the paper is analyzing the relationship between the local authorities of the beneficiary country of Improware Project and all the variables connected to the concept of accountability. Afterwards, the report aims to outline indicative proposals in order to improve, within the public administration, the efficiency of activities made and, at the same time, enhance and promote a social participatory approach. The adoption of the concept of accountability necessarily leads to the achievement of a sharing knowledge process and the improvement, at the same time, of a transparency process of the action carried out. In the framework of the Improware Project, was highlighted the importance of disseminating the implemented strategies, sharing the achieved results and increasing the consent of the citizens.
