Esteemed Professor (Lettera al Professor Francesco Durante)

This is the translation of a letter written in the late Nineteenth Century. The Italian used is typical of the period in which the writer, Olga de Wavilow, lived and of the class to which she presumably belonged. It was not easy to convey the semantic and cultural nuances of the Italian used in a language like English which is so distant from it. However, I opted for a style and vocabulary recollective of the Victorian period to convey the cultural and emotional implications of such a formal letter.
