The Roman Parallel Track (CPR) started in March 1995 at the University la Sapienza and completed its first semester in July. The essential elements of the project, the programme of the first semester, the characteristics of teachers, tutors, instructors and advisors, the mechanism of students' admission and the evaluations are described in the article, From the initial tests administered to the 21 CPR students and the 25 students of a control group it apeared that there were no significant differnces between groups. The text of the article was written and amended by the CPR teachers and tutors and by students of both groups.
