The Roman road system was very complex and trying, after 2000 years, to understand this stitch network is a particularly complicated, but also very stimulating, research field. In this paper I analysed the nowadays Reggio Emilia district; in this area there were three municipia, Regium Lepidi, Tannetum and Brixellum; a lot of environmental changes connected with some Late-Antiquity hydrogeological problems make it dif‑ ficult to identify all the roads that connected these centres, but I think that observing ancient maps, using archaeological and geological data, and toponymical sources, we can achieve a good knowledge, at least, of the most important streets. In this paper I analysed in particular the ancient Via Aemilia track and I detected some anomalies in the trend of the roads that lead to Brixellum that seem to deal with a particular attention that the Romans gave to the geomorphology of this area, planning this road-system.

Abstract
In this paper I analysed in particular the ancient Via Aemilia track and I detected some anomalies in the trend of the roads that lead to Brixellum that seem to deal with a particular attention that the Romans gave to the geomorphology of this area, planning this road-system.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
