The Spanish translation of Matilde Serao's book "Ella non risponse", by Dulce Maria Loynaz, published in Cuba on 2013 and the introductory study made by the Cuban researcher Zaida Capote are the axes that motivate the following essay. The main purpose of this goes around Loynaz’s translation: the possible motivations that determined the choice of that book, such as some stylistic peculiarities present in the translating exercise and assessments of the “influence” of the Italian novel in "Jardin".
