This research is part of the debate on architectural representation and it has been developed in order to bring out the issue of evolution of communication forms in relation to the continuing transformation of the digital world. The theme of communication and, more generally, of architectural representation seems currently less investigated: it is difficult to critically analyze, to understand the theoretical principles, to organize in consistent forms and techniques of application, probably due to its highly volatile nature, constantly changing and often elusive. First of all, the purpose of this research, which stands in opposition to this trend, is to define the theoretical framework within which lie the produced scientific reflections and, above all, to explain as fully as possible the level reached by the forms of communication applied to the architecture and the tools through which the new communication processes are implemented. Ultimately we seek to apply one of the new identified forms of communication, the hypertext, to a study-case, Trentino fortresses of the Great War; these are not very well known architectures and difficult to access and characterized by a clear symbolic value and therefore their historical value, relation with the territory and typological nature, allow a mediated communication and a virtual use. The final outcome will show how the communication process that is to say the structure of communication and the choice of digital techniques and operational tools, is not the result of random choices, but it depends necessarily on the represented object that more or less implicitly directs the path.
