The aim of the research is to understand the impact that science journalism has on the readers of two European magazines, “Focus” in Italy and “Muy Interesante” in Spain, through the use of social networks, especially through the use Facebook. The questions that need to be answered are: are the readers of online newspapers active and involved from the news? Do they actively participate by commenting? Do the headlines seek an exchange with their users or they simply publish posts? It has been also calculated for the two pages, both the Engagement Rare that the PTAT (People Talk About That), indexes that calculate the level of involvement of each page in the space of a week. In this first phase of the research, we have focused on the quantitative data: number of articles, likes, comments. The results made us understand that Social networks are the right tool to bring readers to science.
