This article describes the structure and the psychometric characteristics of a test assessing metalinguistic abilities in late adolescents and adults. The test comprises three subparts, Comprehension, Acceptability and Figurative Language, and in each there is first a question which asseses an intuitive form of metalinguistic awareness and a second one that assesses an explicit, analytic form of metalinguistic awareness. The psychometric characteristics (Test-retest correlations, across-test correlations, Cronbach's alpha and Cohen's index), studied on an Italian sample of 621 participants from 17 to 50 y. -olds, are all satisfactory.
