Analyse all the events which have led to the results seen today on the built landscape is necessary to understand the relationship developed through the time between settlement and physical structure of territory it occupies. The elements that compose the environmental framework and the signs of human activities represent the socio-economic and cultural variables that help us to study the different realities of the communities and allow to understand the different conformations of the urban environment. Over the time we have seen a progressive deterioration of the relationship between the shape of settlements and geographic context, with a progressive indifference for the places features and a the use of repetitive building typologies foreign with the local tradition. An exploitation of place "without rules", which poses serious problems of identity in an increasingly fragmented society, which does not identify in who and what surrounds it. Necessary appears a critical revision of methods and tools generally approved which we use to design the different contexts, that have contributed to the degradation because focused on the growth of new plant systems and extraneous to the recovery, rehabilitation or regeneration of the natural and human environment. This has affected the human behavior, their ethics and their culture, and also their relationship with the environment and its evolution, because we know that architecture influences and is influenced by everything that surrounds it, fitting into the daily life of individuals and making tangible witness of human history. The environment is the testimony of human settlement, that "jealous" of its assets and of its territory, develops a sense of identity and belonging to the place of origin. Recover or rehabilitate the existing between typological evolution and eco-efficiency, it means enhancing the quality exploiting advantageously the complexity of the phenomena that characterize every place. A dialogue between new and built taking into account not only ecology and aesthetics, but also ethics, leading to a redefinition of the fundamentals of contemporary living. An idea of Shape designed on the needs and the specific characteristics of the places that are an added value and inspire feelings of identity and belonging.

Analizzare l’insieme delle vicende che hanno condotto agli esiti oggi visibili in termini di paesaggio costruito equivale a ricomporre il rapporto che si è instaurato nel tempo tra insediamento e struttura fisica del territorio che lo ospita. Gli elementi che configurano il quadro ambientale, da un lato, e i segni e le forme in cui si manifestano i processi di antropizzazione, dall’altro, rappresentano le variabili socio-economico-culturali che caratterizzano le diverse realtà comportamentali delle comunità e permettono di interpretare le differenti conformazioni che il costruito ha preso. Nel corso del tempo si è assistito ad un progressivo deterioramento del rapporto tra forma degli insediamenti e contesto fisico-geografico, che ha portato ad una progressiva indifferenza rispetto ai luoghi e ad un utilizzo di tipologie edilizie ripetitive, ma soprattutto all’adozione di modelli estranei alle tradizioni locali. Uno sfruttamento del Luogo “senza regole”, che pone seri problemi di carattere identitario in una società sempre più frammentata, che non si riconosce in chi e cosa la circonda. Appare necessaria una revisione critica dei metodi, delle procedure e delle strumentazioni tecniche consolidate e omologate con cui si interviene nei diversi contesti sociali e ambientali, che hanno contribuito al degrado in quanto incentrate sulla crescita di sistemi di nuovo impianto ed estranee al recupero, ripristino o rigenerazione dell’ ambiente naturale ed antropico. Tutto ciò ha influito sui comportamenti umani, la loro etica e la loro cultura, nonché i loro rapporti con il contesto e la sua evoluzione, giacché è risaputo che l’architettura influenza ed è influenzata da tutto ciò che la circonda, inserendosi nella quotidianità degli individui e facendosi testimone tangibile della storia dell’uomo. L’ambiente è la testimonianza dell’attività insediativa dell’uomo, che “geloso” del proprio patrimonio e del proprio territorio, sviluppa un sentimento di identità ed appartenenza al luogo di origine. Recuperare o riqualificare l’esistente, tra evoluzione tipologico-formale ed ecoefficienza, vuol dire innalzarne la qualità sfruttando vantaggiosamente la complessità dei fenomeni che caratterizzano ogni luogo. Un dialogo tra nuovo e costruito che tenga conto non solo di ecologia ed estetica, ma anche etica, nell’ottica di una ridefinizione dei fondamenti dell’abitare contemporaneo. Un idea di Forma pensata sulla base dei bisogni e delle specifiche caratteristiche dei luoghi, che costituisca un valore aggiunto e susciti sentimenti di riconoscimento ed appartenenza.
