The activation of new cycles of life for abandoned urban and extra-urban areas, are taking an increasingly central role in the politics of urban planning and of public administrations. The aim is to limit the land use, restore the environmental balance, protect the historical and natural heritage, improve the quality of life in metropolis. The renewal of quarry sites, represent an interesting field of architectural and urban design experimentations.
