The article focuses on the life and the work of Alexander Kondratov (1937-1993), a very peculiar figure of the Russian Samizdat literature. Considered one of the most famous writers in the Soviet Union through his publications of dozens popular science books, he has been at the same time author (under the pseudonym of Sandy Conrad) of thousands of typewritten pages circulating in the unofficial milieus of Leningrad. These works, in which Kondratov makes use of several literary devices not yet emerged at that time, contributed to the creation of a myth, which in many respects is representative of the entire Samizdat phenomenon.
