Libertà e responsabilità della scienza. L’eterodossia marxista di Giovanni Berlinguer

The paper reconstructs some aspects of reflection on the relationship between science and politics that Giovanni Berlinguer developed since the early seventies. Starting from these considerations, in the following years Berlinguer focuses on the centrality of prevention and on an interpretation of health and disease centered on the concept of equity. These studies led him to approach to bioethics and to question the role of the body in contemporary society and the inseparability of the link between science and democracy.

Il lavoro ricostruisce alcuni aspetti della riflessione sul rapporto tra scienza e politica che Giovanni Berlinguer ha sviluppato dai primi anni Settanta. Partendo da queste consi derazioni, negli anni successivi Berlinguer si sofferma sulla centralità della prevenzione e su un'interpretazione dei concetti di salute e malattia incentrata sull'idea di equità. Questi studi lo hanno portato ad avvicinarsi alla bioetica e mettere in discussione il ruolo del corpo nella società contemporanea e l'inscindibilità del legame tra la scienza e la democrazia.
