The aim of the work is the identification of potential interventions to improve energy performance in terms of efficiency and savings, in a sample structure considered representative of some healthcare buildings, particularly significant and recurring in national context of healthcare buildings. The sample structure will be used eventually as “benchmark” for further extension of obtained results also to other healthcare structures. Starting from the analysis of energetic characterization of the building envelope and systems of a hospital located in the north of Rome and realized by buildings with different architectural and plant design typologies, technical and economical feasibility of potential intervention has been evaluated, with the aim of improving the energy performance of both building envelope and systems. In particular, with regard to building envelope, thermal insulation through coating has been mainly considered, together with substitution of old external doors and windows with new ones. With regard to the energy retrofit of the systems, substitution of discharge lamps has been considered with led ones (starting from the ones present in lobbies, corridors and waiting rooms).
