The MiscellaneaCuriosa initsfirstyearsactivelyparticipatedinthedevelopmentof anatomiapractica ,theanatomicalpracticeofobservingthesignsofdiseasesincadav- ersandconnectingthemtowhathadbeenobservedatthebedside.Theillustrations thataccompaniedthepost-mortemreportspublishedinthe MiscellaneaCuriosa allow onetoassesstheevolutionofthepathologicalillustrationitself.Thisarticleisthus intendedtoserveasacontributiontotherediscoveryoftheoriginsofthisvisualgenre.
