Over the past few years, the authors of the present paper developed a research aimed to point out the links between Chemistry and the real world: an original approach to this subject consisted in a didactic journey in which principles, concepts and experimental procedures of the discipline were exposed considering as a starting point those substances, useful in several fields, obtained, not only in the past but also in the present time, from trees and vegetables (colouring and aromatic substances, essential oils, drugs, fibres, alcoholic beverages, soaps and so on). This proposal was successfully employed during a refresher course devoted to secondary school teachers of Chemistry; the course was organised in the spring 1999, as a project MUSIS initiative.
Nell’ambito di una ricerca pluriennale volta a mettere in evidenza i legami della Chimica con il mondo reale, gli autori illustrano nell’articolo un originale percorso didattico che si propone di presentare principi, concetti e procedure sperimentali tipiche della disciplina, a partire dalle sostanze, utilizzabili in moltissimi campi, che l’uomo ha ottenuto ed ottiene anche oggi dai vegetali, quali coloranti, aromatizzanti, oli essenziali, medicinali, fibre, bevande alcoliche, saponi. Tale proposta è stata presentata con successo all’interno di un corso di aggiornamento per insegnanti di Chimica della scuola secondaria superiore, organizzato nella primavera del 1999, nell’ambito delle iniziative del progetto MUSIS.
