L'epigramma di Diogene Laerzio su Stratone di Lampsaco (5. 60 = A.P. 7.111)

This paper proposes a new interpretation of one of the most controversial epigrams of Diogenes Laertius. In the first couplet the reader is invited to consider how, in spite of his thinness, Straton was indeed a strong "fighter" - in accordance with his name - because he struggled against disease. In the second couplet, as a fragment of Straton shows, the epigrammatist makes fun of the philosopher's theory on sensation and perception.

Il contributo propone una nuova interpretazione di uno dei più discussi epigrammi di Diogene Laerzio. Nel primo distico il lettore è invitato a considerare come, nonostante la sua magrezza, Stratone fosse davvero un forte "combattente - coerentemente con il suo nome - poiché lottò incessantemente contro le malattie. Nel secondo distico, come dimostra un frammento dello stesso Stratone, l'epigrammista mette in ridicolo la teoria del filosofo sulla sensazione e sulla percezione.
