We propose an integrated OTN/WDM switch that allows for significantly lower complexity and cost at the price of relaxing the non-blocking ideal performance requirements normally required to such a kind of switch. In this paper we investigate the impact that the switch blocking has on the network performance in static and dynamic scenario. We show how blocking degradation occurs in a case study of metropolitan network equipped with 34 nodes and 114 fibers. We also show that the performance degradation in blocking probability may be mitigated with the introduction of a spatial speedup of value 1,5.

Abstract
We propose an integrated OTN/WDM switch that allows for significantly lower complexity and cost at the price of relaxing the non-blocking ideal performance requirements normally required to such a kind of switch. In this paper we investigate the impact that the switch blocking has on the network performance in static and dynamic scenario. We show how blocking degradation occurs in a case study of metropolitan network equipped with 34 nodes and 114 fibers. We also show that the performance degradation in blocking probability may be mitigated with the introduction of a spatial speedup of value 1,5.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
