This is a review article of the catalogue of an exhibition held in Florence, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, in 2012, devoted to the history of the Medici Oriental Press. This enterprise, backed by Pope Gregory XIII, financially supported by Cardinal Ferdinando de’ Medici, and directed by the mathematician and linguist Giovan Battista Raimondi (1535 ca.-1614), aimed at the publication of books in Arabic and other Oriental languages. The volume includes a long and informative introduction, two major articles, and 55 very detailed entries devoted to the various items of the exhibition. It constitutes a relevant contribution to the knowledge of this still little studied subject.
