Scleroglucan (Scl) a natural polysaccharide produced by fungi of the genus Sclerotium has been modified with carboxymethyl groups (Scl-CM) and investigated as suitable candidate for oral drug delivery. In this study the same derivate has been proposed as potential smart topical drug delivery system.
